Customer Feedback: Why it Matters

Recently we moved our blog from Wordpress to Bullet. This one that you are reading right now is powered by Bullet - A notion based CMS. I was very happy with the new platform. It took away the pain of managing a Wordpress site and it performed way better than the previous blog.
✅ It’s blazing fast
👌🏻 Gives you simple & beautiful looking blog
🚀 SEO optimized … and everything that you need to rank on Google
I shared about this on social media, along with the screenshots of GT Metrics for our blog, showing how we rank “A” on all the parameters.

But then, someone commented to verify the site performance on PageSpeed as well, especially for Mobile - That’s where the problems occur.
Surprisingly he was right. Google PageSpeed rated us “C” for mobile on performance. But on the desktop it was “A”. I shared this feedback with the founder of bullet.

3 days later …

The team at bullet made some changes with respect to optimization and came up with the results below. Our blog now shines on parameters. It’s “A” on mobile & desktop 🙂

Customer feedback is a vital piece for a business. Businesses want to make their customers happy, as happy customers often become loyal customers. If you love the product or service and see the creators making changes based on your feedback, you'll probably stick around and keep using their product.
When you have customer feedback, you can understand how your customers are feeling and what type of changes or improvements are necessary. By being able to get customer feedback, you can quickly identify any areas that need improvement and begin working on them. This information will help you make better decisions and improve the overall quality of your product or service.

What is Customer Feedback?

Have you ever been asked, "How did you like our product?" or "Could we have done something better?" These are examples of customer feedback, a vital tool for any business. Let's break it down.
Imagine you're at a new video game, and there's one level you find extremely hard to beat. If the game creators asked for your opinion and you tell them about it, that's customer feedback! You're the customer, and you're giving them information about their product - the game. Feedback can be about what you like, what you dislike, what you find difficult, or what could be improved.
Customer feedback is the exchange of positive and negative experiences with businesses. It can help businesses determine how they are performing, identify areas in which they need improvement, and make necessary adjustments.

How to Get Customer Feedback?

Companies usually ask for feedback through surveys, comment cards, social media, emails, or even face-to-face communication. For our game example, maybe the creators put out a survey on their website asking, "What's your favorite level?" or "What could we do better?”
  • Surveys
    • Surveys are one of the most common methods because they allow businesses to get feedback from a large number of their customers in a short amount of time.
  • Questionnaires
    • Questionnaires are also popular because they can be completed anonymously and provide insights into customer behavior that can be valuable for business decision-making.
  • Focus groups
    • Focus groups offer another way to get customer feedback by revealing hidden preferences and behaviors in order to better understand why people do what they do.
  • Interviews
    • Interviews allow businesses to talk directly with customers about their experiences with a particular product or service in order to learn more about their needs and desires.

Why is Customer Feedback Important?

Customer feedback is like a mirror that lets businesses see what they're doing well and what they need to improve. It's crucial for a few reasons:
  1. Improvement: If the game creators didn't know about that tough level, they might keep making more like it. Your feedback can help them realize the problem and fix it.
  1. Customer Happiness: Every business wants to make their customers happy, and happy customers become generate word-of-mouth and are the best evangelists for your product.
  1. Innovation: Sometimes, feedback can spark new ideas. Maybe a player suggests a level featuring a magical forest - a concept the game creators hadn't thought of. This could lead to exciting, fresh content that sets them apart from other games.
  1. Understanding Customers: Businesses need to understand their customers to succeed. If the game creators realize their players like puzzles more than action scenes, they might decide to include more puzzles in future games.

But, What if Feedback is Negative?

Negative feedback might seem bad, but it's actually very helpful. It's like when a teacher points out mistakes on your homework - not to make you feel bad, but to help you learn and improve.
If the game creators get feedback that a level is too difficult, they know that's something they need to fix. Without that feedback, they might lose players who get frustrated and quit. So even though it's hard to hear, negative feedback can lead to positive changes.

Conclusion

So now you know - customer feedback is incredibly important for businesses! It helps them improve, keeps customers happy, leads to innovative ideas, and helps businesses better understand their customers. It's a key ingredient to making a successful business, just like studying and hard work are key ingredients to getting good grades.
Next time you're asked for your opinion on a product, remember: your feedback is a powerful tool. Don't be shy about sharing what you think - it could lead to some great improvements, and maybe even some exciting new features!
